The workshop will be highly practical, with content adapted from Databricks’ Machine Learning demos based on work from UC Berkeley, focusing more on hands-on building rather than theory. You’ll get the opportunity to work directly on a machine learning project using Databricks’ Data Intelligence Platform, and by the end of the session, you’ll understand how to build, train, and deploy ML models in a real-world environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience and network directly with professionals from Databricks. The event will also cover: • What is Databricks • The new Databricks Free Edition • Running Machine Learning workflows on Databricks • Navigating the Data Intelligence Platform This workshop is open to students that are intrested or their current coursework alligning with Machine Learning. The Curtin Data Science Association (CDSA) is hosting an exciting Quiz Night in partnership with the WA Data Science Innovation Hub (WADSIH) on Thursday, 26th September 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Curtin Tav. This free event for all CDSA members promises an evening packed with trivia, entertainment, and prizes. Attendees will form teams of six for five rounds of quizzes, with additional entertainment and spot prizes between rounds. With limited spots available, members are encouraged to sign up quickly to be part of this fun and competitive evening.

Join us for an exciting hands-on R programming workshop hosted by the Curtin Data Science Association! This interactive event is designed to equip you with foundational skills in R programming and R Studio, perfect for both beginners and those looking for a refresher. You'll learn how to install and load packages, explore data, understand different data types, and perform indexing and subsetting. We'll also cover essential data cleaning techniques, data manipulation using dplyr and tidyr, and basic data visualisation with ggplot2.
